Mud tank is used for storage, mixing the drilling mud in a drilling mud recycling system, there are various types mud tanks, the normal shape is square mud tank. After a long period drilling operation, there will be some sludge with oil and solids accumulated in the bottom of the mud tank. Cleaning the mud tank become a big problem, the round bottom tank is better compared with the square bottom tank, but it can not avoid the problem completely. To reduce the accumulated sludge in the bottom tank as less as possible, there are 2 ways:

1 choose suitable mud agitator and mud gun for better mixing, so it can circulate in the whole system.

2 use mud tank cleaning equipments. It depends on the solids size in the bottom, firstly you can use a sieve or a shale shaker to separate the large particles, then use the decanter centrifuge to separate the fine particles, the separated solids is dry enough to throw away, the recycled fluids can be re-used to prepare for new drilling fluids. If you do not need to re-use it, you can get it into waste water treatment plant for cleaning.

Chock manifold and kill manifold are used in well control to reduce the pressure from the well. Choke Manifold issued to execute new drilling-well’s technique of balance pressure. Choke Manifold can avoid pollution of oil-layer and improve the speed of drilling and control blowout effectively. The choke manifold consists of choke valves, gate valves, line pipes, fittings, pressure gauges and other components.

Kill manifold in well-control system is to pump drilling fluid into well barrel or inject the water into wellhead.

Chock manifold is usually used together with mud gas separator (also called poor boy degasser), some jobsites will install them together on one skid for easy transportation. Pls see the photo below: mud gas separator with chock manifold on skid.

GN shear pump adopts a set of mechanical seal for no leakage at stuffing box. Inside pump is a 300 series stainless steel turbine containing 44 nozzles, four scoops and shear plate. Fifty percent of the fluid is sheared twice each time through the pump. There are many principles of proper pump installation and application as well as special considerations for the pump design which, if followed, will further enhance the performance of your turbine shear pump.

Shear pump can not be used on active mud system since it will shear drill solids and barite. These solids will also damage pump very quickly.

In the preparation and processing of slurry, the conventional preparation method is difficult to achieve direct hydration of bentonite and polymer are required for high shear force, which requires a long time, usually 24hours or more.

Mud mixer for sale

GN new designed mud mixer is with a shaft to connect the electric motor and gear box. Like the photo below.

The previous and common design is directly connection one, which is without connection shaft, the motor and gear box is connected directly. This design has small footprint which can save place when it is installed on the mud mixing tank, also it less the spare parts, but according to the jobsite’s feedback, it is much easier to be damaged.

The new designed shaft connection mud mixer has larger footprint compared with the previous one, but it is easier to repair and not easy wear. Clients may have various feedback for these 2 types mud mixer, we will provide according to client’s requirement.

Variable speed Decanter Centrifuge

There are 2 ways to adjust the speed of decanter centrifuge:

1 Use 3 extra pulleys, when you want to use different speed, you can change the pulley accordingly.  for example, use middle speed to recycle the barite, use high speed to separate fine particles. By this way, you save the cost of VFD control panel, but it takes a long time to replace the pulleys. image

2 Use VFD control panel, it is the common way we used now. The variable speed drive control panel can be made with PLC control, with IEC ex or ATEX or UL certificate for explosion proof. When you start the centrifuge, you can adjust a lower frequency to protect the motors, after it works smoothly, you can adjust the frequency to your required speed. Even though it costs more compared with the 1st way, but it is much more convenient for operation.

Gas buster is also called poor boy degasser or mud gas separator, it usually worked together with flare ignitor.

Gas buster is used nearby the well head, when harmful gas is increased during drilling, the valve to solids control system will be closed and the valve of chock manifold will be open , so the gas-invaded mud will flow to gas buster. After treated by the mud gas separator, the harmful gas will be transferred to the flare ignitor which is hundreds of meters away by vent lines, and be ignited by the flare ignition device.

Such equipments are functioned as protection of “KICK” situation in the oilfield.
