How to lubricate cutting dryer?

Cutting dryer/vertical cutting dryer is widely used for drilling cuttings management in the oilfield. Lubrication is important for cutting dryer’s maintenance. Manufacture will provide detailed lubrication diagram with the machine. Motor bearings are grease lubricated, the other bearings are all oil lubricated.

 The oil should be changed every 1600 hours of operation or every three months, whichever occurs first. To change oil, drain oil from the gear unit and drain pot. Gear unit plugs are located under the inside sheave. Oil can be drained from the drain pot by disconnecting the suction line at its union located left of the filter and above the pressure switch.

Decanter Centrifuge bowl

GN produced decanter centrifuge for drilling fluids, bowl assy is the main body of the decanter centrifuge. Bowl assy including collection box, bowl, inner tube, screw propeller, gear box, hydraulic coupler, pulleys, bearings, etc.

Bowl is the most important component, in includes taper piece and straight piece, previous production procedure is to make them separately and connected by bolts, GN produced centrifuge bowl is one piece bowl, the connection is welding, such centrifuge bowl is more steadily in performance and working time.

Oilfield Degasser

There are mainly 2 type degasser used in oilfield, vacuum degasser and poor boy degasser.

Vacuum degasser is used in drilling solids control system to remove the gas such as methane, H2S and CO2 from the gas-cut mud, there are horizontal vacuum degasser, vertical vacuum degasser and atmospheric degasser.

Poor boy degasser is well control equipments, it is used to separate dangerous gas, and the vacuum degasser is used only when we need more effective and more efficient results.

Decanter centrifuge gear box

GN designed GNLW363 decanter centrifuge with a two-stage planetary reducing gear box, also called differential.

There is internal gear on the shell. Shell rotate with the drum, and then left pulley drive 1-stage sun gear on the input shaft to rotate, at this time, 1-stage sun gear gear into inner gear through 1-stage planet gear, thus 1-stage revolving arm rotational speed is formed by rotational speed of shell and input axle, and this rotational speed was outputted to 2-stage through 2-stage sun gear. The transmission principle of the two stages are the same, at last, propeller begin to rotate driven by output shaft. Differential is the most complex and most important part of decanter centrifuge.

 

Cutting dryer Basket

GN designed CD930 vertical cutting dryer is applied to drilling waste management system in the rig site. Basket is the main wear parts for cutting dryer, the picture below is cutting dryer basket.

Screen opening can be choose by various field test result. The basket material is stainless steel,inside the basket, there are screen, rotor wheel, they are the main components of cutting dryer.

The Rig Vacuum system is powerful enough to suck just about anything off the ground, including mud, dirt, and liquids of every variety. Rig Vacuum system is designed to collect all drilled solids that are produced while your rig is drilling, effectively eliminating waste before it becomes a problem.

Rig mud recycling system can help to reduce drilling waste and separate drilling cuttings with fluids, it will help a lot for the vacuum unit.

How to test a decanter centrifuge?

High speed decanter centrifuge is widely used for oilfield drilling mud system, do you know how to test a centrifuge? There are many important parameters for centrifuge, like rotary speed, vibration, bearing temperature increasing, pulley size, treating capacity, etc.

For a simply inspection tested by clean water, you should at least test vibration, bearing temperature and rotary speed. See the attached photos of inspection centrifuge, you can see where it located and how to test it.

The 2nd step is to use bentonite mud to feed to the centrifuge, to test the performance and treating capacity of the centrifuge. If it is with VFD control panel, you can test it in various frequency during working.

200gpm HDD mud system

We take a 200gpm HDD mud system to Australia for Drill 2012 exhibition, Drill 2012 is organized by Australian Drilling Industry Association (ADIA) for drilling machines including drilling rig, mud pump, drilling tools, mud recycling system, etc.

This 200gpmHDD mud system also can be used for water well drilling, 150~600meters, the required treating capacity is 150~200gallons per minute.

Submersible slurry pump for drilling

Submersible slurry pump can be used for drilling application, mainly to pump the slurry from the mud pit to shale shaker, second to pump the mud to decanter centrifuge( there is another type screw pump to feed for centrifuge, but submersible slurry pump can save place in the tank for compact footprint).

Especially for small drilling applications, such as HDD, they are not closed loop mud tank system, their drilling mud flow to a mud pit first, then use a submersible slurry pump to pump it to the mud system for cleaning.
