The mud tank needs 2 types of unions, including hammer union and air union, air union is also called pneumatic union, since GN do not use such union in the mud tank design, we would like to introduce hammer union mainly. Hammer unions are one of the most common “quick connection” methods used in the oilfield for joining together components in a temporary pipe work system. Drilling mud fluid systems connecting the steel tanks to the pumps need leak proof and quickly detachable connections for large diameter pipe 4” to 16”.

Poor boy degasser is also called liquid-mud separator, it Is a pressure vessel in a fixed vertical position, inside is a defensive pipe against sprinkler. When contaminated mud is routed into the separator, it flows to the sprinkler, then spread to the defensive guard pipe, during this process, the head of entrained gases “break out”. The released gas then carried by the vent lines to remote location where it can be safely flared. The flow of liquid from the vessel can be regulated by a liquid-level-control valve or a U-tube, ensuring adequate retention time in the separator for the gas to break out.

After using the mud tank for a long time, there will be precipitation of solids and silts, even though we have a lot of solutions to less the precipitation, e.g. each tank should design several cleaning gate which is closed to the bottom, after several months, you can clean the tank bottom through the cleaning gate. Also we can design the tank bottom to round type, not level, it is easy to clean the tank. Most of the tank is designed with water line, which can be used to clean the tank top and tank bottom.

Even though there are a lot of ways to less the solids, you still need special equipments for the mud tank cleaning

. Firstly used a submersible slurry pump or centrifugal pump to transfer the slurry to the cleaning system, which is composed of shale shaker, desander, desilter, sometimes also with decanter centrifuge. The waste water can be re-used to clean the tank, the waste solids can be disposal or to the dewatering system for future process.

Hydrocyclones are applicable in silt separation for dredging slurry separation. There are various size hydrocyclones, 2inch, 4inch, 8 inch, 10 inch, 12 inch, in oilfield drilling solids control system,  the most common size is 4 inch, 10 inch and 12 inch. In the other application such as mining slurry separation, dredging slurry separation, in which include more silt, 2 inch, 4 inch , 6 inch is more popular.

Before GN provide 3 size desander cyclones, 8 inch, 10 inch and 12 inch. The 8inch cyclone is cast iron with Polyurethane material. The 10 inch and 12 inch desander cone is 100% PU material. Now our standard cone size is 10 inch with PU material, and the installation dimension is replaceable with Derrick 10 inch cone. The cut point separation is 45~75 microns, which is usually used after shale shaker and before desilter cone.

We have 3 options for the desander cyclones, 1ea cone can treat 500gpm, 2ea cone can treat 1000gpm, 3ea cone can treat 1500gpm. You can put the desander cyclones on desander equipment( without underflow shaker), or on GNZS752 shale shaker( mini shaker) or GNZS703 shaker to be act as mud cleaner.

Mostly due to the need of harmful combustion gases, Flare Ignitor System must be placed far away from the residence and downwind areas; need for regular inspection gas tank gas margin, while ensuring that all lines intact. 

In transport, lifting process to prevent damage to the ignition wire insulation. Install the igniter must be sure to select the open place.

Flare Ignitor System must be fixed firmly,with supporting guy wire. Movable control box must be placed in the environment , excellent place to protect the electronics components from moisture dust damage.

The cuttings auger conveyor can collect and transfer the cuttings not only from onshore drilling solids control equipments( from shale shaker, mud cleaner, decanter centrifuge), it can also collect the cuttings/used mud from offshore rig platform.

GN produced cutting auger conveyor is drived by electric motor and control control, which is installed at one end of the auger. The auger diameter and length can be choosed by the customer, which can decide the transferring flow rate, it depends on how many tons per hour cuttings your solids control system produced.
