Recently, GN Solids Control successfully completed the delivery of a complete solids control package for a 1500HP drilling rig to a valued customer in the Middle East. The equipment will be used for the treatment and recycling of drilling fluids during oil and gas drilling operations, ensuring higher efficiency, cleaner mud, and reduced environmental impact.
The solids control system includes the following major components:
• Three GNZS594K shale shakers
• One GNZS594K-2S12NK mud cleaner
• One GNZCQ270 vacuum degasser
• Two GNLW363D decanter centrifuges
The GNZS594K shale shaker is one of GN’s most popular models, widely recognized for its reliability and high G-force linear motion. Each unit is equipped with four vibration motors and composite material screens that provide excellent separation efficiency and long service life. The shakers are installed as the first stage of solids control, removing large cuttings from the drilling mud and protecting downstream equipment.
The GNZS594K-2S12NK mud cleaner combines two 10-inch desanders and twelve 4-inch desilters with the same GNZS594K shaker platform. This integrated design simplifies installation, reduces the footprint, and improves the overall efficiency of solids separation. It serves as the second and third stage in the solids control process, removing fine solids that the primary shale shakers cannot handle.
To remove entrained gas from the drilling mud, GN supplied the GNZCQ270 vacuum degasser, a robust and maintenance-friendly unit designed to ensure stable mud density and prevent gas-cutting problems that can affect drilling performance.
Finally, two GNLW363D decanter centrifuges were included to perform the final stage of solids control—ultra-fine particle removal. These centrifuges are driven by a high-torque gearbox and VFD control system, capable of operating in variable speed modes to adapt to different drilling fluid conditions.
