GN Dewatering Centrifuge for Contaminated Soil Washing Slurry Successfully Commissioned in the Middle East

GN Solids Control recently completed the successful commissioning of a containerized sludge dewatering system in the Middle East, specifically designed for treating washing slurry derived from oil-contaminated soil. This project highlights GN’s capability in providing advanced separation equipment for environmental remediation applications.

Background: The Challenge of Treating Oil-Contaminated Soil
In many industrial and oilfield zones, soil contamination caused by crude oil and other hydrocarbons poses a significant environmental hazard. One effective remediation method is soil washing, where contaminated soil is washed with water and surfactants to separate the pollutants from soil particles. However, this process generates a slurry that contains both fine solids and emulsified oil residues, requiring further treatment before disposal or reuse.
GN’s Solution: Containerized Sludge Dewatering System

To address this challenge, GN delivered a containerized sludge dewatering system, which includes integrated components for mobility, protection, and ease of deployment. The key equipment in this system is the GNLW654-VFD high-capacity dewatering centrifuge, a robust machine engineered for handling large volumes of slurry with high solid content.
The centrifuge plays a vital role in the final stage of the treatment process. After the washing slurry passes through a dissolved air flotation (DAF) sedimentation tank, which removes a portion of the free oil and suspended solids, the remaining surface sludge still contains a significant amount of water and fine particulates. The GNLW654-VFD centrifuge is used to dewater this floating sludge, effectively reducing its volume and preparing it for disposal or further treatment.
Features of the GNLW654-VFD Dewatering Centrifuge

Large Capacity: With a 22-inch bowl diameter, the centrifuge is capable of processing high volumes of slurry, ideal for large-scale soil remediation projects.

Variable Frequency Drive (VFD): Allows precise control of bowl speed and differential speed, optimizing performance for various types of sludge.

Durable Construction: All wetted parts are made of wear-resistant stainless steel, ensuring reliable operation in harsh conditions.

Containerized Design: The entire system is housed in a standard container, making it easy to transport, install, and operate in remote or challenging environments.

Project Outcome
After site commissioning, the system achieved stable operation and delivered excellent separation performance. The moisture content of the discharged solids was significantly reduced, and the treated liquid met the customer’s discharge or recycling standards.

This project demonstrates GN’s commitment to supporting environmental remediation efforts in oil-producing regions. With growing attention on sustainability and pollution control, GN Solids Control continues to provide practical and efficient solutions for sludge dewatering and waste treatment challenges worldwide

GN Solids Control Participated in the 2025 China International Trenchless Technology Conference (ITTC)

GN Solids Control successfully participated in the 2025 China International Trenchless Technology Conference (ITTC), one of the most significant annual events in China’s trenchless technology sector. The exhibition brought together top manufacturers, engineering experts, and industry professionals to share the latest innovations and solutions for trenchless construction.

During the event, GN showcased two of its key technologies that drew significant attention from attendees:

1. TBM Slurry Separation System – Model GNTBM-360B

This system is designed specifically for tunnel boring machine (TBM) projects and includes GN’s high-efficiency double-deck shale shaker GNZS1536-2A. The unit demonstrated excellent performance in removing large solids from slurry in shield tunneling applications.

  • Vibration amplitude: 4–8 mm

  • Double-deck screen configuration: Enhances capacity and separation efficiency

  • Compact footprint: Suitable for confined or urban project sites

Visitors at the booth appreciated the practicality of the design and its ability to improve fluid recycling and reduce environmental impact.

2. Decanter Centrifuge – Model GNLW632B

GN also exhibited the GNLW632B dewatering decanter centrifuge, a robust and high-capacity unit for separating fine solids from drilling fluids and slurry. It’s engineered for applications outside the oilfield, such as municipal engineering, HDD, and trenchless drilling.

Key features:

  • High G-force for improved separation

  • Wear-resistant materials for longer service life

  • Easy operation and low maintenance

GN’s participation in ITTC 2025 reaffirmed the company’s dedication to advancing separation technology for the trenchless industry. Many attendees stopped by to discuss system customization, project integration, and technical support.

We thank everyone who visited our booth and shared insights on current challenges in trenchless construction. GN Solids Control remains committed to providing efficient and reliable solutions for your fluid management needs.

GN Modular Vacuum and Hydraulic Excavation Sludge Dewatering System Delivered to Overseas Client

GN Solids Control has recently completed the delivery of a fully modular sludge dewatering system designed for vacuum and hydraulic excavation applications. The complete system has been shipped to an overseas customer and is tailored to handle high-solid-content slurry generated from utility excavation, HDD, and similar applications where vacuum trucks or hydrovacs are used to collect slurry from job sites.

This turnkey solution integrates five main modules, each engineered for efficient, staged separation and compact, flexible installation.
1. Coarse Shaker Module – GNLMP-1536
The process begins with the GNLMP-1536 Coarse Shaker Module, designed to handle large volumes of incoming slurry while efficiently removing oversized solids, rocks, and debris. This helps protect downstream equipment and ensures a smooth process. The modular design makes it ideal for fast mobilization and deployment on-site.

2. Double Deck Fine Shaker Module – GNZS596K
Following the initial coarse screening, the slurry is processed by the GNZS596K Double Deck Shaker, which uses high-G force vibration to separate finer particles. The double-deck design allows for more effective separation with increased throughput, improving the efficiency of the entire system.

3. Desander/Desilter Module – GNZJ594J-8N
The third stage includes the GNZJ594J-8N Desander and Desilter Module, equipped with 10” and 4” hydrocyclones to remove sand and silt-sized particles from the slurry. This step is critical in reducing the solid load before the slurry enters the decanter centrifuge, thus enhancing overall performance and extending equipment lifespan.
4. Decanter Centrifuge Module – GNLW553D-VFD
The GNLW553D-VFD Decanter Centrifuge is the core of the dewatering process. With a large bowl diameter and variable frequency drive (VFD), this centrifuge is capable of handling high slurry volumes with excellent separation efficiency. It removes fine particles and reduces the total solids content to meet environmental discharge or disposal requirements.

5. 20ft Chemical Dosing Module
To further enhance separation efficiency, the system includes a 20ft Containerized Chemical Dosing Unit. This module automatically prepares and injects flocculants or coagulants into the slurry, improving the performance of the decanter centrifuge and allowing for the recovery of cleaner water and drier solids.
